Why learn about pain.

Knowledge and movement are the two greatest pain and stress liberators.

Having a modern understanding of the biology of human pain, based on the latest science, is an essential first step to reducing your chronic back pain. Pain education can sound daunting, but it can be easily understood, even if you are not a natural at science! We make it fun, interesting and relatable! Understanding pain biology changes the way you think about pain, makes being in pain less scary, and can actually reduce pain. Surprisingly, pain is not all about tissue damage.

Karen combines pain education with movement and coaching to treat chronic pain. Karen works on-line, face to face, with groups and with individuals. Learning the biology of human pain is an essential first step to moving towards a pain free life. You will also be taught exercises specific to you to get you moving pain free and to rewire a ramped up pain system. During the sessions you will learn:

  • How and why the body creates pain.

  • How pain gets amplified given the right conditions, and how you can reverse this.

  • About our amazing spines, our bioplastic brains & how graded movement helps heal back pain

The spine is incredibly strong, tissues heal, muscles love to move. Our amazing brains are bioplastic, they learn and adapt. There is so much we can do to actively change our pain levels and ultimately move towards a pain free life. Education is the first step on this journey.

Meet Karen Ingram.

"I've been working with people with chronic back pain for over 20 years. When I was 22 years old I had surgery on my lower back for two prolapsed discs. My back pain continued into my 20's and 30's and I was desperate for a solution rather than more surgery. My own experience is my inspiration for the Back Hero Programme. It's the culmination of the last 20 years teaching, exploring, researching and personally trying many strategies."

Please get in touch if you would like to find out more about how I work with people to treat pain. You can book an initial assessment in person or via zoom.

Karen is a pain and movement coach with over 20 years experience. She has a post grad in Pain Science & Education from the University of South Australia and has trained with the NOI Group and SIRPA.  Karen is a Senior Master Instructor for Peak Pilates and a member of the Peak Pilates Advisor Board. She is an author and presents internationally.
