Nordic Walking uses specially designed poles to enhance your natural walking experience. With a technique that is similar to the upper body action of classic cross-country skiing, Nordic Walking becomes a genuinely whole body exercise that can be enjoyed at any level.

We run weekly Nordic Walking classes from Cowbridge and also the Knap in Barry. The sessions last 60 minutes and it’s the perfect way to enjoy some of our lovely Welsh countryside. Every session includes a technique focus and we teach using the INWA (International Nordic Walking Federation) 10 step method. As your technique improves the more benefits you get from Nordic Walking, like burning 46% more calories.

If you are new to Nordic Walking then come along to one of our Introduction to Nordic Walking workshops. This 2-hour session teaches you the first 5 steps of the Nordic Walking technique plus up and downhill methods.

If you can’t make one of the workshops then book a one to one session to learn the basics so you can then slot into class.

Barefoot Studio is the UK importer and distributor of Exel Nordic Walking poles and we use these high-quality poles in all of our sessions. Many of our Nordic walkers go on to buy their own poles and you’ll find a great range of poles in our shop and online store.
