Barefoot Studio to host Peak Pilates teacher training

Barefoot Studio, in Cowbridge near Cardiff, is delighted to be hosting two training courses this summer for people wanting to become Pilates instructors. Lee Morgan is a Master Trainer for Peak Pilates and will be offering the foundation PPS1 course and the more advanced PPS2. Both courses focus on the Classical form of Pilates using both the Pilates reformer and matwork.

David Beckham – Pilates Fit for Football

Soccer star David Beckham’s secret to a (very) fit body has been revealed – Pilates!

When asked on how the whole thing started, the 34-year-old English footballer admits that he was introduced to Pilates when on loan to AC Milan. “I do an hour of Pilates a day,” says the star. He corroborates: “The medical set-up at Milan is fantastic and fitness-wise I am the best I have been for a long time,”

Want to know how helpful the Pilates have been so far for David? Well, according to statistics, Pilates has reduced Becks’ body fat from 13.7 per cent to a super-toned 8.5 per cent.

Meanwhile, Becks is returning to LA Galaxy next month. But, not to worry. The Pilates’ exercise will continue for David and his wife, Victoria, even in Los Angeles. The couple is heard to have signed up for the Pilates Classes at Los Angeles’ exclusive Sports Club.

Perhaps next time the couple are in Wales they will book in for one of our classes at Barefoot Studio. Becks himself might come along to our men’s pilates class on a tuesday night!

At Barefoot Studio we are big fans of the Pilates method and are proud to teach Classical Pilates, which means it’s pretty close to Joseph Pilates original method. But what about the man himself? Here are 10 facts about Joseph Pilates you may not already know:

Joseph Pilates was born in Dusseldorf in Germany in 1880
His wife was called Clara
Joe was a big fan of skin brushing!
He opened his studio in New York
During the first world war he was interned on the Isle of Man
His father was a prize winning gymnast
his mother was a natropath
at one time Jospeh Pilates was a professional boxer
he called his method ‘contrology’
Joesph Pilates died in 1967 at the age of 87
