Nordic Walking Olympic Challenge

The Olympics will be here this August 2012 and we have a special Olympic challenge for you!  It’s 169.0 miles from Cowbridge to the Olympic Stadium in London.   How far can you walk over the next 7 months?  We’ll log your distance and the first member to achieve the 169.0 miles will receive a prize.  All miles will be added to your profile and we’ll chart the journey for you along the M4 corridor; first stop is Cardiff.  In order to get to London by August 2012 you’ll need to walk 24.0 miles per month or 6 miles per week. Check out our Suunto watches to record your time, speed and heart rate too!

 

Neolithic Full and Half-Marathon

Barefoot Studio are getting a team ready for the Neolithic full and half-Marathon!  Come along and Nordic Walk the Sarsen Trail.  There are 4 distances to choose from:

7 miles – Avebury to All Cannings – a leisurely walk:

11 miles – Avebury to Redhorn – a more demanding walk with a hill climb:

15 miles – Redhorn to Stonehenge – a longer level walk:

26 miles – from the ancient stone circle of Avebury to the infamous Stonehenge.

SKI-Fit Course

BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND – a 5 week course designed to get you ready for the slopes this Winter.  This all-over body work-out will incorporate the principles of Pilates to increase your muscular strength and endurance.  Functional exercises and movement patterns will target your thighs, buttocks and calves enabling you to maintain downhill ski position.  Mobility exercises and stretches will keep joints supple giving you greater range of movement and flexibility.  Course begins on 9th January and runs until 6th February 2012

Introduction to Nordic Walking Workshop
14th January, Saturday- 10:30am to 12:30pm

This 2 hour workshop is for those new to Nordic Walking. We’ll take you through the basics, including up and downhill techniques. You’ll learn all you need to either join in our regular classes or get your own poles and begin to enjoy this fantastic new activity. £15 per person, BU Free

Introduction to Pilates Course – February 2012

We will be running 3 new Introduction to Pilates courses beginning in the February 2012.  Pilates is a total body conditioning method which targets the deep postural muscles.  Pilates will build strength from the inside out, improving posture, flexibility and suppleness.  It’s also a great way to relieve stress and tension and meet new people in a relaxed environment.
Classes meet once a week for 6 weeks.
22nd Feb, Wed – 10:30
23rd Feb, Thurs – 19:30
25th Feb, Sat – 11:00
Price is £51.00, class sizes are limited so booking is essential
